Building Community
This program allows the participant to connect with their surroundings and the community in a very flexible fashion. The participant’s work on skills they would like to enhance/develop in, with the assistance of the Support Care Professional, who then facilitates the experience. The type of experiences that will be offered to the participants will be determined according to their capabilities.
Some of these experiences include basic office skills, maintenance, money management, traffic awareness, and cleaning and stocking of inventory at local work sites, such as La Espanola Church and Pregones Theatre. Other activities, which take place in the Day Habilitation Program are trips to recreational areas. Such as parks, pools, and beaches (weather permitting) and to places such as malls and stores where the participants, with the aid of staff, can purchase items that they like.
